The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Data Specialist to play a pivotal role in designing, building and supporting Brightwater's modern data platform.

About the Role

Reporting to the Technical Architect, you'll be the subject matter expert for data engineering, helping deliver trusted, secure and insight-ready data that supports operational excellence and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building and supporting scalable enterprise data platforms and lakehouse environments
  • Developing and maintaining end-to-end data pipelines and integration solutions
  • Implementing modern data architectures, including Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) frameworks
  • Creating and maintaining enterprise data models and semantic layers to support reporting and analytics
  • Driving data quality, governance, lineage and metadata management practices
  • Implementing security controls and ensuring compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with BI and reporting teams to deliver trusted, curated datasets
  • Supporting innovation through modern technologies including automation, AI and advanced analytics capabilities
  • Promoting best-practice engineering standards, DevOps and CI/CD approaches

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll have:

  • Proven experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform or similar technical data roles
  • Experience designing and delivering end-to-end enterprise data solutions
  • Strong expertise in modern data platforms, ideally within Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience with Data Lake/Lakehouse architectures and data pipeline orchestration
  • Strong data modelling and semantic layer design capability
  • Advanced SQL, scripting and data transformation skills
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality and master data management practices
  • Understanding of cloud platforms, security, privacy and compliance frameworks
  • Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

You will also need:

  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance obtained in the last 12 months
  • A valid driver’s licence as defined by the Department of Trasport WA (DoTWA)
