We are currently seeking applications for a Mental Health Clinician to join our Brightwater Oats Street, East Victoria Park, WA rehabilitation team on Permanent Part Time basis. 
 

This position will suit a Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Social Worker, Psychologist or Registered Nurse with experience in counselling.  

About the role  

This role will provide tailored mental health support, helping clients navigate the complex emotional and psychological challenges that can arise after brain injury 

Your work will focus on promoting recovery, resilience, and improved quality of life. 

This position provides training and guidance to non-mental health team members and is responsible for writing reports, data collection, and the development and review of practices, procedures and protocols in relation to mental health.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Qualified and suitably registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist; or qualified as a Social Worker holding current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers; or other relevant qualification and professional registration. 
  • Post graduate qualification in mental health. If a Registered Nurse, primary qualification in mental health is suitable. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with clients presenting with a broad range of mental health disorders such as trauma, depression and anxiety and drug and alcohol issues. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with adults living with acquired brain injury (desirable) 
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health assessment (MSE) and provision of therapeutic interventions. 
  • Strong understanding of grief and loss and how it impacts mental health 
  • Experience in drug and alcohol counselling is desirable but not essential 
  • Knowledge of the Australian health care system and community supports relevant to mental health. 
  • Proven customer-focused work ethic, strong commitment to Brightwater’s Mission, and values alignment with Brightwater’s values. 
  • Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, colleagues and other health service providers. 
  • Ability to proficiently use information technology particularly the Microsoft Office suite to write reports and develop and review mental health care plans. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, work effectively under pressure, problem solve and use resources effectively, safely and efficiently. 
  • Satisfactory National Police Certificate (obtained within the last 12 months). 
  • Current WA ‘C’ class Driver’s Licence. 
  • NDIS workers screening Check.
