We are seeking a highly motivated General Counsel to join Brightwater, a respected not-for-profit organisation based in Western Australia. This role offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a legal professional who is eager to make a meaningful impact within the organisation.

As General Counsel, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary, you will provide expert legal advice and support across a broad spectrum of matters, including contracts, agreements, regulatory compliance, and litigation. This position is ideal for someone with strong commercial acumen, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to influence and drive excellence.

We are seeking a part-time lawyer, working between 0.6FTE to 0.8 FTE at our Brightwater Central Office in Inglewood.

To be successful in this role you will have:

1. Tertiary degree in Law, and eligible to practice as a solicitor in WA with a current [unrestricted] practising certificate.
2. Ability to provide commercially focused legal advice and support.
3. Good research, problem solving and analytical skills with ability to identify issues and potential solutions in a way that promotes the values and behaviours of the organisation and mitigates reputational risk.
4. Ability to work autonomously and as a collaborative team member with a high degree of professionalism, initiative and motivation.
5. Key Personal and Compliance requirements as required by legislation
