This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Skill Therapy Assistant to join our Inglewood site on a permanent full-time basis with hours of work 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Brightwater Inglewood comprises 128 private rooms and is located within our Brightwater Central campus.

Whilst working as an Advanced Skill Therapy Assistant you will be a valued member of our multi-disciplinary team providing assistance in all aspects of day to day care and individualised therapy, lifestyle and leisure programs to meet client needs. You will provide contemporaneous feedback on progress to enable appropriate goal setting and program review. In addition to these tasks you will be responsible for a range of extended and rewarding duties including coordination, therapeutic, technical and administrative tasks; and responsibility for various therapy programs and portfolios to support Brightwater’s operational and strategic objectives.

To be considered for this role you must have considerable experience working as a Therapy Assistant in aged care and you must have Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance. 

To be suitable for this role, you must possess:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
  • Extensive experience working as a Therapy Assistant in aged care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision, and to organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, problem solve and meet deadlines
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance that is less than one year old
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Western Australian Driver’s licence
  • First Aid Certificate - desirable

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist clients to participate in a variety of goal based therapeutic and recreational programs
  • Plan, coordinate and administer a variety of group programs (large and small), assist in comfortable positioning, deliver prescribed therapy interventions and facilitate community access
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure all therapy, lifestyle, leisure and health care activities are meaningful, purposeful and provided in a personalised manner in accordance with the client’s care plan and adhere to relevant policies and legislation
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of service delivered to clients
  • Act as a positive role model for all staff, demonstrating behaviour in line with Brightwater’s Mission, values, policies and procedures, and use highly developed problem solving skills
  • Lead and mentor a site based team
  • Supporting volunteers to enhance the site therapy program
  • Contribute to site reporting, accreditation standards and legislative compliance by completing all documentation and reporting incidents
