We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist, for a 0.5FTE role on a 12 month fixed term contract at Brightwater Oxford Gardens. 

Located near Lake Joondalup, Brightwater Oxford Gardens provides is a 59 private room, 1 shared room facility spanning across 4 houses providing high quality care for people with a range of different needs, including those with advanced dementia and high care needs.

As an Occupational Therapist in Residential Aged Care, you will assess the client, determine individual capabilities, and set realistic goals, facilitating the achievement of these goals while optimising the client’s functional performance in relation to activities of daily living, wellbeing, leisure pursuits and vocation/education. The Occupational Therapist will work as part of the sites multi disciplinary team to provide clinical oversight of residents within the facility and ensure the delivery of high quality clinical care. The Occupational Therapist is also responsible for leadership and oversight of the therapy assistant team and the delivery of the leisure and lifestyle program on site. 

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team the Occupational Therapist (OT) provides quality, appropriate and relevant OT services to meet the needs of Brightwater Care Group’s clients. Brightwater residential aged care offers well-structured supervision and support, linking clinicians with senior OT’s who are able to provide practical support and regular supervision sessions.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Strong commitment to providing, and the capability to deliver, safe high-quality care.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency as an OT to assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in various environments with a diverse range of people.
  • Strong person-centred skills in communicating and engaging with clients with high support needs including cognitive impairment, brain injury, and dementia.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, problem solve and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of occupational safety and health legislation; Aged Care Act (1997); and/or Disability Services Commission Standards (1988).
  • First Aid Certificate less than 3 years old (desirable; essential if providing services for Brightwater At Home clients).
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Recently obtained National Police Clearance - Less than 12 months old 
  • Satisfactory NDIS Workers Screening Check
