Brightwater is after a Student Coordination Officer to help drive Brightwater’s future workforce —shaping student and trainee experiences, building partnerships, and bringing our learning pathways to life.

This role is offered on a 3-Month Full Time fixed-term contract starting immediately. 

Role:

The Student Coordination Officer facilitates and oversees the student and traineeship programs across Brightwater’s services in line with the workforce strategy. This includes partnering with Operations and the Recruitment team to understand and meet current and future skills needs, building and maintaining strong relationships with external education institutions and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and measuring the impact and benefit of traineeships and student placements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with Recruitment and Operations to identify current and future skills gaps and seek opportunities to source students and/or traineeships to meet these needs in support of Brightwater’s workforce strategy. This includes supporting employment pathways for students.
  2. Seek and maintain strong relationships with external education institutions and RTOs to facilitate effective traineeships and source appropriate students for placement with Brightwater’s services.
  3. Liaise with Operations to ensure students are appropriately placed and are sufficiently supervised and supported to ensure a meaningful experience and positive interaction with Brightwater.
  4. Oversee all governance requirements and administration for student placements and traineeships. This includes but is not limited to ensuring insurances and Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) are in place with education institutions, students have the necessary checks to commence, trainees have a training contract and are registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network provider, and creating and maintaining student and employee records in the central employee data and learning systems.
  5. Act as a central contact for students and trainees, and facilitate surveys with students, trainees and operations to ensure the student and traineeship programs are achieving intended outcomes.
  6. Liaise with external organisations and the Finance team to secure training grants and wage subsidies for students and trainees where available.
  7. In collaboration with the Manager Learning & Transformation, develop and maintain policies, procedures and processes regarding the management of students and trainees to improve performance and ensure compliance with regulations.
  8. Identify and implement opportunities to promote Brightwater as a student host employer and develop marketing and training materials.
  9. Contribute to the effective management of the clinical graduate program, providing proactive administrative and coordination support.
  10. Promote a culture of flexible and customer-focused service provision, communicating effectively with team members and external organisations in a professional manner.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  1. Previous involvement with and/or experience managing tertiary student placements.
  2. Excellent understanding of traineeship programs, including the logistics, funding and grants involved.
  3. Capability to translate workforce strategy objectives into learning programs.
  4. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to liaise, consult and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build successful relationships.
  5. Solution focused and self-motivated with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, problem solve and meet deadlines.
  6. Self-motivated and the ability to work unsupervised, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of human resource management principles and an understanding of practical and contemporary learning adult learning principles.
  8. Excellent computer skills with sound knowledge of learning management systems and Microsoft applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel).
  9. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
  10. Experience in health, aged care or a disability environment (desirable).
  11. Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence as defined by Department of Transport WA (DOT).
  12. Satisfactory National Police Certificate obtained within the last 12 months.
